Welcome back folks to Used Car Bargain of the Week! This week, it’s Redline’s 4-week anniversary and so we’re coming back to where UCBW all started – with a car from Japan! More specifically, the car is a 1995 Mazda MX-5 (Miata if you’re from the US) – for $7,200.
This MX-5 is no ordinary, boring NB MX-5 – it’s a MK1/NA model. Even better, it has the tuner-favourite 1.8L I4, producing a whopping 96kW (woah!). Further, this MX-5 is basically stock (with the only aftermarket parts being a Racing Beat exhaust and new radiator) – meaning it’s a blank canvas for some serious mods.
In terms of the other nitty gritty details, the MX-5 comes with 158K km, air con and a 5-speed manual. The only small downsides are the lack of a hardtop (soft tips are a bit hairdressery), a nice looking colour and most importantly – airbags & a safety rating that won’t turn you into mash potato.
Overall this ’95 NA MX-5 is the ULTIMATE project & tuner car. I would buy it if only it had airbags! What do you think another this steal of a deal (see what I did there)? Let moi self know!
