Yesterday evening, EuroNCAP released 6 new safety ratings for 4 different cars, with a few surprising results.

The cars tested were the Mini Countryman, Suzuki Swift, Skoda Kodiaq and Nissan Micra. The ratings went as follows:

  • Mini Countryman: 5 stars
  • Suzuki Swift:
    • Standard EU spec: 3 stars
    • EU safety pack: 4 stars
  • Skoda Kodiaq: 5 stars
  • Nissan Micra:
    • Standard EU spec: 4 stars
    • EU safety pack: 5 stars

Once again, for cars like the Swift and Micra, this is a case of the reputation of innocent and safe little cars being RUINED by Euro NCAP’s stupid test regulations, where cars basically MUST have AEB and a bazillion other safety assist features to get a 5 star rating. Take into account that just 4 years ago the Holden VF Commodore was one of, if not the only car on the Australian market with lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, collision warning and more. That’s what DESTROYED the Mustang – it only had seatbelt warning. TLDR: Euro NCAP are s***ty and are like overprotective mothers.

What do you guys think of these ratings? Let me know down below!

Extra note: do you guys want me to do special rant posts?
