Today, Chevrolet announced that the Camaro ZL1 1LE had tackled the ‘Green Hell’, the Nurburgring Nordscleife. For those who don’t know, the Camaro ZL1 1LE is the track-ready, extreme aero brother of the insane 650hp Camaro ZL1 muscle car.
The Camaro ZL1 1LE lapped the Nurburgring in an insane, blistering 7 minutes and 16.04 seconds. If that means nothing to you, let me give that figure some reference – that’s faster than a 997-generation Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Ferrari 488 GTB, Nissan GT-R and the C6 Corvette ZR1. This record is a massive accomplishment for the ZL1 1LE, considering the car weighs around 1640kg and is only powered by the rear wheels. Further, it’s important to note that this car set the lap with an American-developed manual transmission – pretty crazy considering most cars with a similar time all have DCTs or autos of some kind.
What do YOU guys think of this lap? Watch it, and let me know down below!
