Earlier this week, Volvo’s performance arm unveiled a performance pack for the upcoming XC60 T8 SUV.
Polestar’s performance pack tweaks the XC60 T8’s 235kW 2.0L twin-charged 4- cylinder petrol and 10.4kWh hybrid system to boost the power output to 314kW (421hp) – that’s just 25kW shy of a Camaro SS. Thanks to the upped output, the Polestar-tweaked T8 is expected to hit 100km/h a few tenths faster than the regular car’s 5.3 second time.
Polestar claims that their tweaks have focused on five key areas of the car – two of which being engine performance and gearbox functionality. The engine has now been calibrated to respond to and support the extra power in the mid-range revs, while the gearbox had been tuned to shift faster and use lower gears in corners to take advantage of mid-range RPM power. The VP of R&D at Polestar, Henrik Fries, has gone on to say: “With the Polestar optimisation, it makes the new Volvo XC60 a true drivers’ car”.
