On Wednesday, Aston Martin unveiled the second generation of their entry-level Vantage sports car.
Let’s just start with that design – oh my god. Do cars get more beautiful than this? The new Vantage shares design cues from the specially-designed-for-the-movie-Spectre DB10 as well as the Vulcan track car – this is especially evident in the massive front shark-mouth grille, side shark gills and rear duck-tailed boot. Noticing a pattern here?
Under the bonnet is a 4.0L AMG-sourced twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 375kW of power and 685Nm of torque. Drive is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an 8-speed ZF auto – it can hit 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds towards a top speed of 314km/h.
The new Vantage comes with 3 drive modes – Sport, Sport Plus and Track – the Vantage has torque vectoring and is also the first Aston to come with an electronic LSD. Brakes and suspension wise, it has 400mm 6-piston fronts and 360mm 4-piston rears, connected to front independent double wishbone and rear multilink suspension and adaptive dampers. Wheels consist of 20-inch forged alloys wrapped in 255/40 front and 295/35 rear Pirelli P Zero tires specially designed for the Vantage.
Inside, there’s a completely new cabin with infotainment from Mercedes and a 350L cargo volume. Standard features include a titanium front grille, twin stainless-steel exhausts, sports seats, leather and Alcantara trim, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry/start, tyre pressure monitoring, electric memory seats, parking sensors and a reversing camera. The new Aston Martin Vantage launches Down Under in June-July 2018, starting at $299,950 before on roads. What do you think of the new Vantage? Let me know down below!
