On Saturday, documents emerged in the USA that indicate that the humble Mazda MX-5 will get a power bump for the 2019 model year.
Thanks to an NHTSA document obtained by US magazine Road & Track, the Mazda MX-5 will gain a new version of the current car’s 2.0L inline-4 that will produce 181hp (135kW), up 26hp (19kW) or 17% over the current 155hp USDM (or 118kW in Australia) car.
This is some really good news, as one of the main gripes reviewers have with the MX-5 (and even its Fiat cousin) is that it doesn’t have enough power. Sure, it may just be 17kW, but it is great to have – hopefully Fiat will do the same.
What do you think of this little power bump? Let me know down below!
