This week, Rimac have revealed the successor to their ultra limited run Concept_One, the C_two.
The C_two uses four electric motors, one on each wheel, to produce a whopping 1914hp (1427kW) of power and 2300Nm of torque. Not only is it the most powerful car in the world, it’s the quickest – it reaches 60mph in a blistering 1.85 seconds, 0.05 seconds faster than the Tesla Roadster (0-100 is covered in 1.97s). Top speed is rated at a world-record-rivalling 412km/h (258mph).
The C_two features a 120kWh battery that can deliver up to a 650km range, which can be charged to 80% capacity in 30 minutes if you use a 250kW fast charger.
Rimac only plan to build 250 C_twos, all which feature a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, aero forged alloy wheels, an active rear wing which raises, lowers and tilts, butterfly doors and carbon-ceramic brakes.
The show car’s interior follows a blue & brown colour scheme, with electric seats, an adjustable steering wheel, a digital instrument panel and a large centre touchscreen infotainment system. Technology wise, the C_two is fitted with 8 cameras, a LIDAR sensor, 6 radar emitters and 12 ultrasonic sensors to make it compatible of Level 4 autonomous driving (that’s fully autonomous without a driver’s attention necessary) – this is in addition to AEB, torque vectoring and facial recognition that replaces the tradtitional key.
Rimac haven’t announced a price for the new C_two, however considering its performance I expect it to be in the millions? I’m a massive fan of the C_two, it’s great to see such a capable, Tesla-beating electric car – what do you think? Let me know!
