Today, Volvo announced the pricing and specs for their upcoming XC40 baby SUV.
The range will consist of 8 variants – 4 are part of the regular range, with the other 4 being launch editions.
Two engines will be offered with the XC40 at launch: the petrol T5 (a 2.0-litre turbo 4 generating 185kW of power and 350Nm of torque) and the diesel D4 (using a 2.0-litre turbo 4 producing 140kW and 400Nm).
Pricing for the range goes as follows:
- T5 Momentum – $47,990
- D4 Momentum – $50,990
- T5 Momentum Launch Edition – $52,990
- T5 R-Design – $54,990
- D4 Momentum Launch Edition – $55,990
- T5 R-Design Launch Edition – $56,740
- D4 R-Design – $57,990
- D4 R-Design Launch Edition – $59,740
The standard equipment list for the Momentum includes 18-inch alloys, dual-zone climate control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, keyless start (not entry), front & rear parking sensors, reversing camera and‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights (with auto high-beam). Furtherm it includes auto-dimming and folding mirrors, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s instrument cluster, an 8-speaker sound system, an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, cloth & vinyl seat upholstery and an electrically-adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar support.
Over the Momentum, the R-Design gains sporty exterior styling components (a high-gloss grille and dual black tailpipes), 20-inch diamond cut black alloy wheels, a black contrasting roof, Nubuck textile & fine nappa perforated leather upholstery, black headlining, sports chassis, R-Design perforated leather steering wheel with paddle shifters and an R-Design perforated gear shifter. It also gets an electrically-adjustable passenger seat, adaptive headlights with an auto-bending function, keyless entry, electric tailgate with a gesture opening function and upgraded interior lighting.
At launch, Volvo are offering some special launch editions, spanning all trim levels and powertrains.
The first is the Momentum Launch Edition. Over the Momentum it gets a sunroof, LED headlights with auto-bending, adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist (Volvo’s semi-autonomous system), a Harman Kardon premium sound system, tinted side windows, heated front seats, 19-inch 5-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, a front-seat cushion extension, and Park Assist Pilot. In addition, there’s keyless entry, an electric tailgate, an electric passenger seat, built-in alarm and leather upholstery. The launch edition gains $10,020 more equipment than the Momentum, depite the $5000 price difference.
The second launch edition is the R-Design Launch Edition. Over the regular R-Design it gets a sunroof, tinted windows, an alarm, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving, Park Assist Pilot, a 360-degree camera and a Harman Kardon audio system. The additional features are valued at $6670, despite the launch edition retailing for only $2000 more than the regualr version.
