Yesterday, the BMW M2 Competition was leaked online.

Early yesterday morning (AEST), a Slovenian BMW fan site noticed that a new mini-site went live on BMW Australia’s website detailing the new car. It has since been taken down, but not quick enough for eagle eyed fans to note down the details.

The M2 Competition will use the 3.0L twin turbocharged inline-6 (codenamed S55) from the larger M3 and M4, which is detuned to produce 302kW of power and 550Nm of torque. 0-100km/h is claimed to happen in just 4.2 seconds (0.1 slower than the M4) thanks to rear wheel drive and 7-speed M dual-clutch auto – sadly, there’s no mention of a manual at this stage.

Compared to the regular M2, the Competition features black kidney grilles, a new front bumper with slits in the splitter for downforce and machined alloy wheels. It also takes the mirrors and front seats from the bigger M3/M4.

The BMW M2 Competition is expected to fully debut later this month at the Beijing motor show – I’ll update you when that happens. Let me know your initial impressions from this leak down below.
