Do you want the look of a hot hatch without the performance and price that comes with it? The newly revealed Hyundai i30 N Line is for you.
The i30 N Line has been designed to look just like the fully blown N hot hatch. It uses the same front bumper, splitter, grille, daytime running lights, black mirror caps and rear bumper. The only clear differences are chrome door handles (instead of body-coloured ones), twin exhaust pipes on one side only (instead of one on each side), less aggressive rear spoiler and no side skirts. The N Line’s 18-inch wheels look like those of the hot N, but without the black accents. Inside, the N Line gains perforated leather seats and an N steering wheel – tight N sports seats can be optioned.
The i30 N Line does get some performance improvements over the standard model. The brakes have been upgraded to 16-inch ones – one inch bigger than those on the regular i30. It gets new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Performance tyres – the suspension, brakes and throttle response have also been tuned by N to be sportier.
In Europe, the i30 N Line will be go on sale within the next few months, with the only engine option being a 1.4-litre turbo four-cylinder with 103kW like the regular models. Whether or not the N Line package will come to Australia is still unknown, let alone what engines will be available.
