The new-generation Ford Focus ST has been spied undergoing testing in Colorado completely undisguised.
The ST prototype, spotted by US publication Motor1, was seen towing a trailer without any disguise at all.
From first glance, it’s clear to see that the new ST looks fairly similar to the lower-spec ST-Line model, but with a few notable race-inspired touches. At the front, the grille has been enlarged, and the bottom grille surround has been completely blacked out, as per the baby Fiesta ST. The ST-Line’s 18-inch machined alloy wheels have also been swapped out for the grey 5-spokes seen on the current-generation Focus ST, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 performance tyres.
Around the back, there’s a more aggressive rear diffuser with two exhaust tips – the prototype’s exhaust tips are noticably smaller than the size of the holes in the diffuser, so expect some larger ones for the production version. There’s also some new sporty skirts down the side of the car.
Based on the small amount of camoflage seen on this and other prototypes spotted in Europe, the production Focus ST can’t be far away. A full reveal at the Paris motor show in September seems likely.
