Powertrain specs for the upcoming Mercedes-AMG A45 hyper hatch have leaked online, ahead of its official reveal at the Geneva motor show in March.
According to German insurance website HUK24, which published the information, the new A45 will be available in two guises: the regular A45, and the hotter A45 S.
Both variants will be equipped with 2.0-litre (1991cc to be exact) turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engines, although in different states of tune. Whereas the base A45 will boast 285kW (387 PS), the hi-po A45 S will pack a class-leading 310kW (421 PS). For reference, the outgoing AMG A45 produces just 280kW, while the Audi RS3 manages to extract 294kW from its 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder.
The Mercedes-AMG A45 and A45 S will be fully revealed in a couple months time. It is expected to pair these powerful 2.0-litre engines with a rear-biased AWD system and an eight-speed dual-clutch auto. Stay tuned to Redline for all the latest.
