Kia has released pricing and specifications for the Picanto GT, a sporty turbocharged version of its smallest car.
It’s priced from $17,990 drive-away, just $500 more than the automatic-equipped Picanto GT-Line.
As the ‘performance’ model of the range, the Picanto GT is exclusively powered by a new 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder, which produces 74kW of power and 172Nm of torque. It drives the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, and with a tare mass of 1007kg, it should be pretty peppy.
In addition to the new turbo engine, it has received a stiffer suspension tune and a sharper steering setup.
Visually, the GT looks nearly identical to the standard GT-Line. It retains the same sports body kit with red accents, dual exhaust tips, 16-inch alloy wheels, 195/45 tyres and chrome-accented door handles, along with a GT badge. Inside, there are black cloth seats with red accents, red-and-black door trim, and a leather steering wheel with red contrast stitching.
Standard equipment includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, four-speaker sound system, a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power front windows and a choice of four exterior colours.
The Kia Picanto GT is now on sale.
