BMW has announced pricing and specifications for the Z4, its new two-seat roadster that shares its platform to the new Toyota GR Supra.
All three engines available globally will be offered in Australia: the 145kW and 190kW four-cylinders, and the 250kW inline-six.
Opening the range is the sDrive20i, priced from $84,900 plus on-road costs. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which sends 145kW of power and 320Nm of torque to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel use is rated at 6.5L/100km, while 0-100km/h is a claimed 6.6 seconds.
Standard equipment on the 20i includes 18-inch alloy wheels, the M Sport styling package, electrically adjustable heated sports seats, dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, 10-speaker sound system, 10.25-inch infotainment screen, BMW Live Cockpit Professional digital instrument cluster and Vernasca leather upholstery.
Stepping up to the sDrive30i, priced from $104,900 plus on-road costs, increases outputs to 190kW of power and 400Nm of torque. The 0-100km/h time drops to 5.4 seconds, with no fuel economy penalty. Equipment wise, it adds 19-inch alloy wheels, M Sport braked, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, adaptive suspension and adaptive LED headlights.
Atop the range is the M40i, priced from $124,900 plus on-road costs. Under the bonnet now sits a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six producing 250kW of power and 500Nm of torque – the 0-100km/h sprint is now 4.5 seconds. Additional equipment over the 30i includes a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, M Sport limited-slip differential and a sportier suspension tune.
The BMW Z4 goes on sale in dealerships in March.
