Mercedes-AMG has revealed the 2020 GT R Roadster, a drop-top version of its flagship sports car.
Under the bonnet is the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as the coupe, producing 430kW of power and 700Nm of torque. Sending power to the rear wheels is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission – it can sprint to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, towards a top speed of 317km/h.
The roof has been carried over from lesser GT Roadster models, with a folding fabric design that’s supported by a structure of alloys.
All of the performance components have been brought over from the coupe, including adaptive dampers, Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tyres, limited-slip differential, complex aero package with rear wing and front splitter, rear wheel steering and big performance brakes.
Inside, the driver is treated to AMG Performance bucket seats trimmed in Napa leather, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch infotainment screen and microfibre AMG steering wheel.
The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster goes on sale in Europe later this year, limited to just 750 units.
