This morning, Holden officially took the wraps off the new 2018 Commodore performance flagship, the Commodore VXR.

Under the bonnet the Commodore VXR packs a 3.6L naturally aspirated petrol V6 producing a modest 235kW of power and 381Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed auto and the Twinster AWD system used in the Ford Focus RS. The car has an option of 3 different and unique drive modes which alter the response and stiffness of the dampers/springs (a system which Holden calls Continuous Damping Control), steering feel, transmission and response and the AWD system’s torque distribution.

The VXR also gets front Brembo brakes, 20-inch alloy wheels, a bigger rear lip spoiler, new and more sporty front and rear bumpers and VXR sill plates. Interior and tech wise, it gets active LED matrix headlights, new performance seats and a suite of driver assistance tech.

The Commodore VXR launches in early 2018 along with the regular Commodore liftback, Sportwagon and Tourer. I’m pretty hyped – what about you? Let me know!
