Pricing and specifications have been announced for the Lexus UX, the Japanese brand’s upcoming small SUV that’s set to rival the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
Two powertrains will be offered, the UX200 and the UX250h. The 200 uses a 127kW/205Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol that drives the front wheels through a CVT auto with 10 stepped ratios, while the 250h drives the front or all wheels through a petrol-electric hybrid system which produces 131kW of power.
The range opens with the Luxury trim, priced from $44,450 or $47,950 in UX200 or UX250h guises respectively. Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, parking sensors, 10.3-inch infotainment system with sat-nav, eight-speaker sound system, tyre pressure monitoring, leather-trimmed steering wheel, eight-way electrically adjustable heated front seats, auto-dimming rear mirror and an adjustable steering column. There are also 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, LED headlights and power mirrors.
Luxury models are available with a choice of two optional packages. The $1550 Enhancement Pack 1 adds a hands-free tailgate, headlight washers, wireless smartphone charging, scuff plates, privacy glass and cornering lights. The $4050 Enhancement Pack 2 adds all of the aforementioned features, plus a sunroof.
Stepping up to the Sport Luxury, priced from $53,000 to $61,000 depending on drivetrain, adds 18-inch alloy wheels, run-flat tyres, leather-accented seat trim, 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, adaptive high-beam lights and a 360-degree camera. A $3500 Enhancement Pack can be optioned, which complements the already-large spec sheet with a sunroof, head-up display and a smart keycard-shaped car key.
At the pinnacle of the range is the F Sport, priced at just $450 more than the Sport Luxury. Being the range-topper, it gets unique bumpers, grilles and skirts, 18-inch sport alloy wheels, sports seats, sports steering wheel, aluminium pedals and performance adaptive dampers. It also benefits from the same Enhancement Pack as the Sport Luxury.
The Lexus UX200 goes on sale in dealerships later this month, while the UX250h lands Down Under early 2019.
